Education and Experience

In the field since 1996, I started as a volunteer in a hospital serving people with HIV/AIDS. This work grounded me in the principles of a non-judgmental harm reduction approach. After earning my graduate degree, I had the privilege of working with people living with addictions, seizure disorders, refugees, the home-bound elderly, Holocaust Survivors, and trauma and sexual abuse survivors. I began my private practice in psychotherapy on the Upper West Side in 2003.

I am proud to be a lifetime student and patient, continually learning about myself and the human experience. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College, I graduated with an MSW from the NYU School of Social Work in 1999. I went on to graduate from a three-year postgraduate psychoanalytic psychotherapy program, New York Counseling and Guidance Institute, in 2003. Since that time, I have trained in a variety of approaches, including EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), modern psychoanalysis at CMPS, RLT (Relational Life Therapy) and group therapy at CGS (Center for Group Therapy) and EGPS (Eastern Group Psychotherapy Service). Continual supervision and training connect me to colleagues and mentors. I see people both in-person (in NY) and remotely over zoom and phone. I hold clinical licenses in the states of New York, New Jersey and Washington.

Client Testimonials

Beth was very sympathetic and helpful. She graciously made a couple of relevant doctor recommendations and made herself available should I need her. Highly recommend.

Edward C.

Beth helped me feel safe and supported enough to talk about things that I felt ashamed of. It was comfortable, and I felt accepted, and it has been really helpful.

JA

Working with Beth was revelatory. I felt enlightened and came away with fresh thoughts.
